Business objects is a commercial product that allows you to do reports and data mining from data stored in your database. You can basically design reports by drag and drop and you can set up the system to allow some of your users to design thier own customized reports. There are more features than this, but it has been years since of seen the product in action, so perhaps others will give more details.
